Avatar explanation Part 1.

Hosted by Photobucket.com
As you might have guessed, I have been making avatars for a while.  It started as an out for my lack of art as well an expression of creativity on the message board I usually attend.  Obviously many of these avatars have a specific sort of humour, most of the time related to the in jokes created by on the board topic....Street fighter and other Fighting games.

I decided to start out with this one because of the certain universal appeal of it regardless of not knowing who the characters are.  Basically I was inpsired by the stance of this stance of Captain Commando; A character that had his own beat'em up side scrolling arcade game sometime in the 1990's developed by Capcom, and brought back as a fighting game character in Marvel VS. Capcom 1 and in it's sequel MvC2, As you can see his stance is pretty erratic almost eccentric,; I imagined that he would be like a beatnik, therefore the black colour scheme.

His admirers were characters from other fighting games, starting from the Upper right going clockwise, it is Sabretooh, Gambit, Jin Satome and Rolento. In fact all of their snap animations were ripped when they made a super move (a reall flash high damaging move).

The dialogue itself, is ripped from Captain Commando's ending where the people of planet earth ask "Who are you?", and he camly replies (in a garbled stereo voice at the time) I am......Captain Commando.  I guess it was a name to be remembered if any other danger threaten's the earth. That very same line is repeated in his MvC1 ending (MvC2 has a genric one ending for ALL characters due to how large the character roster is *52*) when you defeat Onslaught who is the final boss of MvC1.; I imagined that hey....perhaps just reciting his dialogue is prententious enough.

I guess the hardest part of this avatar is how much time it took to get the palette swap done.  It makes me wonder if Imagready is really at all hot, or if Paint Shop Pro's program might prove easier to switch colour schemes.
